BYD's luxury brand Yangwang announced on November 6 that its U9Xtreme (U9X) reached 503.17 km/h, a result certified by the FIA and Guinness World Records.
The run took place on November 1 on a closed section of the E11 highway in Abu Dhabi, driven by Marc Basseng. In September last year the same driver set a 496.22 km/h record with the U9X at the Papenburg test facility in Germany, and the new 503.17 km/h figure improves on that mark.
The brand also held the global premiere of its flagship luxury sedan Dingyao in Abu Dhabi, its first full-brand global launch overseas, signaling an accelerated push by Chinese brands into the Middle East's high-end segment.
