As long as you are a good observer, I believe you will be impressed by the stickers on the windows of many cars on the road - its visibility is really high - yes, this is the flag set by many self-driving enthusiasts. The reason is that among all the national highways, this road has the most diverse landscapes and cultural atmospheres. For this reason, a self-driving trip on G318 has become a "pilgrimage".
But now, G318 has a new physical object. The third model launched by the Deep Blue brand will be officially launched under the name of G318. Whether for tribute or for conquest, it is rushing towards National Highway 318 as a "new technological hard-core SUV". The tone is quite high, but what kind of strength does this car have?
Previously, we launched a vote on Weibo called #Take questions to test drive#. Regardingthe Deep Blue G318, the three questions with the most votes were "What is the appearance and aura of the actual car?", "What is the intelligent configuration of the car?" and "What are the highlights of the Super Range Extender 2.0 system". Before starting the article, let us briefly answer these three questions.
1. There are so many square boxes now! The overall design of the dark blue G318 is also a typical square box style, but it has more of a futuristic tone. Its biggest visual feature is the cyber front face composed of a grilleless visor + C-shaped headlights, as well as accessories such as searchlights on the body. But when it comes to volume, its size is very important. The length of this car exceeds five meters and the height is close to two meters. I believe that standing in front of it, you can easily feel its aura.
2. The visual center of the cockpit is still the 14.6-inch central control screen. The chip is also the mainstream Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155, and the car system is Deepal OS. The functional configuration inside the car is also full-featured, and basically all the mainstream intelligent applications are available at this stage. But in fact, these are the most basic things in intelligence, because there is a deeper platform architecture support, its underlying intelligent logic is centralized, and one command can quickly, agilely and efficiently link multiple parts of the car body to work together, such as its 5 terrain modes and 3 special scenes. 3. Shenlan said that a high-quality range-extending technology should be "economical, enjoyable, and safe". This range-extending power system consists of a high-thermal-efficiency 1.5T engine + dual motors, with a pure electric range of 190km and a CLTC comprehensive range of more than 1000km. The generator has a maximum efficiency of 96.6%, 1L of oil can generate 3.63 kWh of electricity, and its power-feeding fuel consumption is 6.7L per 100 kilometers. In terms of enjoyment, this car pursues the "enjoyable" feeling of maintaining the driving experience of a permanent electric car. The volume and weight of Shenlan Force Super Electric Drive 2.0 have been further reduced to achieve a high power density. Finally, in terms of safety, it is equipped with the Golden Bell Battery 2.0, which is manufactured with absolute safety and reliability as the premise. The overall design of the dark blue G318 is tough, but in the current era of square boxes, everyone wants to pay tribute to the retro style. Although it is square, it is designed with a futuristic sense of innovation. Overall, this new car, positioned as a "new technology hard-core", shows a strong hard-core off-road style with its tough outline and large area of straight line design, but the use of lines is very trendy, without any "tribute" to a classic off-road vehicle, and the originality is very high.

The front face of the car has a strong "Battleship Power" style. The straight lines and rounded rectangles create this year's popular retro hard style, and the overall outline is very powerful. The cyber metal grilleless faceplate + C-shaped headlight group create a unique avant-garde feeling for new energy vehicles. In addition, the guard plate under the protruding bumper presents a grille shape. The large area of black application forms a sharp contrast with the body, and also adds more wildness and mecha feeling to the entire front of the car.

The design of the headlights cleverly combines the style of traditional off-road vehicles with the cyberpunk style of the electric era. Positioned as a hardcore car, the optional parts must be fun. Shenlan also provides a variety of original expansion parts such as luggage racks, headlights, electric pedals, rear backpacks, spare tires, etc. It is worth mentioning that the roof luggage rack and roof spotlights are integrated designs, with a static unloaded weight of 300KG and a dynamic load of up to 80KG. In addition, the four-wheel drive model has towing qualifications, and the maximum towing weight can reach 1600kg.

At the rear of the car, the "Space Gate" is designed with many muscular lines. The rear window glass and the black part below constitute the main body. At the same time, the volumes on both sides extend and converge to form a supporting structure. The strong black bumper at the bottom is very recognizable, giving people a sense of stability and solidity. The vehicle's license plate frame is set on the left side of the body.

The taillights echo the headlights and are also C-shaped. The trunk door adopts the side-opening structure commonly seen in off-road vehicles, with a spare tire mounted on the outside and five-spoke propeller wheels, just like the propellers of a submarine, with outstanding visual effects.

The test drive car is equipped with 18-inch black and silver two-tone wheels. As for tires, the model we tested this time is equipped with Continental PCC tires, with a specification of 255/45R20. In addition, there is also CROSS CONTACT AX6 optional, and this tire is more in line with its attributes, which greatly approaches off-road attributes while also ensuring good road driving performance.
Intelligent cockpit remains

The interior design continues the hard-core and futuristic design style of the whole vehicle. The three colors of Glacier Blue, Holy Lake Green and Forest Black are optional, highlighting its positioning as a hard-core SUV. There are also handles designed in many places in the car, but the center console is exquisite. Square contour lines are used in a large area here, but the lines are used more softly, and the atmosphere of new energy is more full. Many physical buttons are also retained in the car. In terms of materials, the new car has added a lot of silver decorative embellishments in the details. The application area of soft materials is large, and basically everything you can touch is soft.

The 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel is embedded in the center console, which can not only avoid glare, but also make the center console more integrated. Its overall color, resolution, display effect and screen saturation are all quite good, and it also supports free switching of multiple theme modes. It also has a dedicated new energy power interface that can display information such as energy flow and pure electric endurance.

The three-spoke D-shaped steering wheel is also very high-end, with a leather-wrapped surface that feels delicate, and a thick grip that feels tight. Even the rear lights and wiper levers are triangular in shape, and feel crisp. The multimedia buttons at the 39 o'clock position use a button + lever operation method, without excessively reducing the design sense and interactive hot keys. It is very easy to use and can be used for multimedia control, driving control and other function settings.


The 14.6-inch central control screen adopts an embedded design. The screen has good smoothness and display effects. With the support of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, its touch and drag response is relatively flexible. In terms of functions, the built-in system UI is still the basic style of the bottom tray plus the information tree on the left, and there are commonly used shortcut keys. The entire UI interface is still quite clean. The configuration continues to be full. In addition to navigation and very detailed vehicle personalization options, it also supports more advanced continuous voice recognition, car networking, OTA online upgrades and other functions.

Safety configuration is naturally not left behind. From the hardware point of view, the front of the car is equipped with a millimeter-wave radar, a camera integrated on the inner side of the top of the front windshield, and parking radars and sensors around the body. Its assisted driving system is very conservative. It comes standard with IACC, with cruise control, smart deviation, lane centering, and automatic speed limit. The assisted driving is very mainstream, and there is no additional high-end intelligent driving.


Like many advanced off-road vehicles, the Deep Blue G318 can display real-time off-road information about the vehicle in the car system. The panoramic imaging function equipped with the camera is a very practical off-road configuration.

In front of the central armrest is a mobile phone charging station with non-slip rubber material, and there is also a small air outlet for mobile phone heat dissipation. On the right side is a storage space with blinds. The gear lever uses a push rod shape similar to that of an aircraft, which is full of exquisiteness and details.

As for the air conditioning, detailed operations are all integrated into the central control screen, and the commonly used empty physical buttons are retained below, which makes blind operation more friendly while driving, which deserves praise. The test drive car is equipped with dual-zone automatic air conditioning and a CN95-grade air purification system. The interface is integrated into the central control screen, and the air outlet of the air conditioner adopts a conventional design, which is more convenient to operate.
Hardcore also has a large space

The driver's seat is wide and thick, with the thickness and volume that a car of this level should have, like a small sofa, the leather-covered surface feels good, and the vertical stitching looks very high-end. It also has everything you need in terms of functions, it has electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, and electric adjustment lumbar support for the front row.

The new car provides a large five-seat layout. The rear seats are consistent with the front seats. The seats with the same filling materials as the front seats further improve the comfort of the whole car and provide good care for the rear passengers. The seat cushion is long enough and the backrest supports angle adjustment. The three wide seats all have independent headrests. Like the front seats, there are also armrests for passengers to hold when getting on and off the car.

The storage space performance is satisfactory. There are 31 storage spaces designed in the whole car. You don’t have to worry about its performance in terms of layout and internal volume. The test drive car has many small places to put things.

There is also a small detail on the rear door panel. The traditional charging port at the rear air-conditioning outlet is now located on the armrest of the rear door panel, with a type-C port on the left and a USB port on the right.

There is a panoramic sunroof on the top, and the front half can be opened.

The tailgate opens horizontally on the left side, and there is a suspension lift button on the left side, which can lower the height of the vehicle to save you some effort when placing heavy items. The regular trunk volume is 810L. The second row of seats in our test drive car can be folded down in a 4/6 ratio. After folding down the front and rear rows of seats, it can be expanded to 1747L. However, there is a certain inclination between the seat back and the trunk floor after folding down, so you need to be careful when placing large items.


In terms of functional configuration, the trunk also has a 220V power interface, which is very practical for users who go on long-distance outdoor trips. In response to the various power needs of outdoor players during camping, it can realize the ultra-high power external discharge function and support the power consumption of household appliances such as coffee machines, induction cookers, and projectors.
Extended range can also be very tough!

In terms of power, the Deep Blue G318 is equipped with a range-extended power system, using a 1.5T engine as a range extender, and is available in single-motor and dual-motor versions. The single-motor version has a maximum power of 110 kW; the front and rear dual-motor four-wheel drive version has a maximum power of 131 kW for the front motor and 185 kW for the rear motor, with a total system power of 316 kW and a WLTC pure electric range of 155 km (CLTC 190 km).

The dual-motor four-wheel drive version we tested has a very high system power. If compared with a fuel car, it is basically equivalent to a high-power 3.0T engine, so you don’t have to worry about the absolute power. Thanks to the "more economical, more enjoyable, and safer" super-range extension technology of this generation, the system can support pure electric, series, engine direct drive, idle power generation, energy recovery and other modes. In addition, there is no need to worry about fuel economy. The official said that the fuel consumption of the power feed is 7.4L/100km, which is basically equivalent to the fuel consumption performance of a small pure fuel SUV.

It has economy, comfort, sports, and custom modes, which are enough to cover all power demand scenarios. This hybrid architecture, like most range extenders, does not focus on extreme output, but is a hybrid architecture that focuses on saving, pursuing both electricity and oil savings, but its zero-to-hundred acceleration time is also solidly achieved in 6.3 seconds. If you need the system to do its best to help you, it is also capable of pressing you into your seat with acceleration, and in this state, the excellent NVH will not excessively transmit the roar of the engine into the car, and the sound line changes very little during acceleration.

In most cases, it drives like a pure electric car, with all the performance and power response of a pure electric car. After the engine starts, you don't have to worry about the connection of the power system. The intelligent SOC strategy will intelligently and autonomously allocate the oil and electricity energy, so that different working conditions can be switched seamlessly, so that the energy storage and application can reach the best. So we just need to focus on driving and leave the rest to the computer. There are also three types of energy management strategies: urban, mountainous, and highway.

The chassis is double wishbone + multi-link independent suspension, and active magic carpet + CDC + air suspension is also standard. Its chassis shock absorption character is not as shaky as traditional off-road vehicles, but has a certain tough atmosphere. It is most appropriate to describe it as "soft and neutral". The tuning style gives it a common road feel of SUVs. The suspension filtering and supporting capabilities are very satisfactory. It filters the transient vibrations caused by different road surfaces. It is not easy for you sitting in the front row to distinguish what shape of road the tire has just rolled over. It is like a layer of cushion, and the comfort is absolutely full. There is no loose feeling at all when rolling over at high speed, and it can stand firmly in the first time.

Although it focuses on light off-road, its off-road foundation is quite strong. In addition to electric four-wheel drive, it also has a central stepless differential lock and a magnetic mechanical differential lock. Not only can it be opened intelligently to achieve zero impact and zero delay, it also has an additional 5 terrain modes (wading mode, snow mode, rugged mode, mud mode, sand mode), 3 special scenes including the internet celebrity's on-the-spot U-turn, steep slope descent, and off-road crawling, which can be said to have achieved equal rights for off-road.

Although it does not have a beam body, this is generally not a constraint for off-road vehicles nowadays. The ultra-high-strength hot forming process creates a high-strength seven-ring body structure, and the 45000Nm/deg body torsional stiffness is better, and the vehicle's dynamic comfort is more guaranteed. As for off-road performance, it takes a "foolproof" route. Users can make choices based on road conditions without making full manual adjustments. It is not a problem for it to pass some off-road conditions above medium difficulty, but when it comes to climbing and sand rushing, you still have to think clearly.
